Rucksack Compatibility

Our standard of compatibility is that Ruck Plates® will be stable and secure in your Ruck with minimal shifting.

If you have a Ruck Plate Carrier™, we recommend the shorter (Standard) Ruck Plates® — 10LB, 20LB or 30LB.

The 20L and 25L Rucker® feature an additional pocket to securely fit a 45LB Ruck Plate®, which can be paired with a 20LB or 30LB Ruck Plate® for up to 75 lbs of total weight.

45LB Ruck Plates® only strap in securely to the 20L/25L Rucker and Long Ruck Plate Carrier, however they will fit into the interior elastic pocket of the GR1® (suitable for upright weighted rucking, but not ruck PT aka burpees and bear crawls).

WHEN IN DOUBT

Start With 20#

The relationship between your body, the weight, and the rucksack will determine your level of comfort on the move. Our recommendation for most people is to start with 20 lbs of weight for rucking, progress in increments of ~10 lbs, and ultimately max out at ⅓ of your bodyweight. It’s more important to keep proper form while rucking than to have more weight.

Reviews

30# plate smoothness

"After attempting some non GoRuck brand plates (x 2 10lbs plates and a 30lbs plate) I bought the GoRuck 30lbs plate. I am happy with my purchase. The 30lbs plate obviously fit my Basic Rucker perfectly. It really makes a difference in “smoothness” of the work how heavy the weight feels."

Great addition to our daily walk

"Love it. Never realized how much rucking would help. Always walk 3 miles a day, now adding the truck plates has made such a difference. I have the standard with 10lbs plate and my husband has tje tall (he's 6'3:) with the 20lbs plate. Both feel great with no bouncing or uncomfortable movement. Only complaint i have is the straps rub on my biceps when I swing my arms alot."

Great pack! Easy to store

"Great pack! Easy to store and easy to change out the weights. Definitely fits perfect and feels great for posture and strength."

Ruck Plates - top notch products.

"Outstanding!! Enjoying this product along with the Rucker 5.0. I want to take the ruck and one or two plates as a carry on soon when we head to the North Carolina mountains but I am worried what TSA might do with the plates..."

Plates work great and arrived

"Plates work great and arrived extremely fast."

Good product, bad packaging

"Excellent product. Thinnest 45# ruck plate I have found. Not sure who packed it, but the box was split, the plate was not secured, the box too big, not enough cushioning material. The plate exposed, scratched and scuffed upon delivery. I repaired with some matte black spray paint but think its important to let folks know. Given, weights are difficult to ship, but GoRuck could have done better in my opinion"

Great pack, with the need to redesign the hip belt attachment

"I have greatly enjoyed my pack so far. I take a 2-mile rolling hills walk on a wood-chipped trail every morning with my dog at first light and it has changed my walk from a brisk stroll to a vigorous workout, just what I wanted. I'm a 6' 195 lb fit 65 year old man, so I started with 20 lbs and moved up five pounds every few days. Today I will ruck with 55 lbs. My goal is to go all the way to the max of 75 lbs, or ideally 80 lbs, sliding in my 5-lb plate beyond the weight sleeves. I have only one complaint, that is that the way the hip belt is secured to the pack isn't secure enough. The stiff woven tab that is slid under the two pieces of webbing doesn't secure the tab. I ended up sewing the pieces together making it a forever joined belt to the pack. I would suggest redesigning the attachment with an appropriately sized squeeze tab like the one that you clip below your belly button to secure the hip belt around your waist."

Received a 30lb ruck plate

"Received a 30lb ruck plate which had some sort of yellow stain. I contacted GORUCK and they gave me 2 options. Trade it in for another or keep it and receive a refund!! Nothing is going to hurt the plate especially a small paint marking. Scars Lifetime Guarantee for sure!!! This Company is far beyond anyone else out there! Lifetime Customer"

There is now doubt about

"There is now doubt about craftsmanship, and how it sits on the back with lombard support and straps. My beef is with the fact that the chest strap is too short. When I am breathing heavily like uphill, I have to disconnect. Why have this excellent product and then skimp on enough strap length for that?"

New Rucker

"We are new to rucking and really like. In addition to other exercise we do, we like to walk in the evening, and wearing the ruck turns that into a great workout. Basic Rucker is built solid and confortable - don't even feel it besides the weight."

— Gerald D. (5/5)
