Be Ready for Anything.

The Story Behind Mackall™

Camp Mackall has trained generations of warfighters to be ready for anything. The Mackall™ trail shoe honors that legacy with maximum versatility and maximum support so you can be ready for anything.

Versatile Trail Shoes

Built for Rucking

Rucking demands maximum support from your footwear. Mackall™ features the same supportive foundation as MACV-2™ rucking boots — a rugged EVA midsole and aggressive triple compound outsole that thrives in all kinds of terrain.

High-Traction Forefoot

The forefoot outsole rubber is formulated for increased grip with deep tread specifically shaped to grab the ground while shedding mud and debris. It wraps around the toes for additional protection against rocky terrain or when doing push-ups.

Hardened Midfoot

The midfoot outsole is formulated from a rock climbing compound and hardened for exceptional abrasion resistance — ideal for fast-roping.

Dense, Durable Heel

The heel is more dense and formulated for extreme durability with an expanded heel strike area that won't break down over time or distance.

Rugged Midsole

The midsole design wraps around the entire upper providing significantly more stability and maximum support.

Support you need for your feet so they’re not smoked after being on your feet all day, whatever you’re doing. Support is foundational to Mackall™ and makes them versatile — great for combat, traveling, and for people who demand a lot of their feet.

Lightweight, Breathable Upper

100% polyester knit constructed with the strength and durability to thrive in unforgiving environments. At 230 g/sqm, it's lightweight and fast drying.

High-wear areas are reinforced with a protective TPU film. We targeted the toe area for abrasion resistance and the midfoot to heel area for additional lockdown support.

Protective Toe Cap

No stubbed toes from craggy rocks or rogue sticks on the trail. A dual layered toe cap provides extra protection and abrasion resistance across the toes. Reinforced bonding to the rubber outsole's toe bumper results in better long term durability after miles of abusive terrain.

Ideal Rucking Offset

The ideal heel-to-toe drop for rucking. 13mm offset reduces the strain on your achilles (and by proxy your ankle, knees, and hips) and helps to accommodate a natural gait in an unnatural world of asphalt and man-made surfaces.

Wide Toe Box

Generous forefoot area lets your toes breathe. Over time and distance during any activity including rucking or traveling, your feet will swell. This extra space reduces the friction that can occur if your feet rub against the insides of your shoe.

No Spacer Mesh

Spacer mesh is soft, squishy, and feels comfortable to your hand when you touch it. But it’s a trap, literally. The first time spacer mesh looks at any kind of water, your shoes get heavier and they stay that way. So we proudly do not use spacer mesh, end of story.

3D Molded Heel Lock

Comfortable PU foam bolsters lock in the heel to prevent slippage and excessive movement around the ankle. This allows you to secure your heel into the shoe without relying on lace-locking or lacing too tightly.

Anatomically Molded TPU Heel Counter

Anchors your foot with a supportive, injection molded heel counter that stabilizes your heel when you're moving with momentum.

3MM Speed Laces

3mm as opposed to standard 5mm, just like MACV-2™. Debris and mud doesn't collect on the 3mm laces like it does on the 5mm, the 3mm rinse off and dry faster, and they're faster to tie because there's less bulk.

CUSTOM COMPRESSION INSOLE

DUAL DENSITY INSERT

Our custom insert uses a dual layered compression foam system that supports your entire foot from heel to toe - including contoured arch support for all 3 of your arches- throughout the duration of your foot strike.

Perfection!

"Within minutes of opening the box, my new Mackalls were on the trail for 10K. Perfect fit - Ghillie lacing is superior. The grey color is also perfect, not too dark and concealing ticks. Not too light collecting stains. Good traction, even on slippery wet wood."

Two Thumbs Up

"Wanted an off-road running shoe and am very impressed. Fit comfortably the first day, the quality is obvious and they look great. It’s also quickly became my favorite camping shoe with the protection of recycled plastics and 4x4-like grip hiking up steep hills. Most expensive pair of shoes that I own but would buy them again in a heartbeat. Didn’t think I was going to be rucking but now I weight up while walking the dog."

Christopher S. (5/5)

great shoes

"I bought these to primarily be a shoe for HIIT / tactical athelete workouts on concrete, grass, and gravel. Coming from barefoot shoes, I needed something with more cushion, grip, and versatility. While I think my feet are the problem and I will need something else long-term, these shoes hit the mark for fit, finish, and utility. They are stable under a barbell (225lbs) and comfortable under long farmers carries (120lbs/200m). They are responsive enough to get the job done for sprints and slow jogs. Even though the ride is stiff for those uses, the soles have a great amount of flexibility"

Weird heel pads

"Its a well made shoe for sure. The fit is great. The weird heel support pads make my foot move up and down though and my socks get pulled down. I dont think that I'll be putting many miles on in these. It seems like i would get hot spots on my Achilles tendon. Comfortable for wearing around the house though."

Samuel L. (3/5)

Initial impression was that the

"Initial impression was that the sole would be too soft for the desert terrain that I hike in, but they seem durable after the initial 10 miles, we’ll see how long they last. Sizing is a little big, but nothing a thick pair of socks won’t cure. Lots of ventilation though, which is one of the reasons why I bought them."

Thomas G. (5/5)

Phenomenal support for bashing around

"Phenomenal support for bashing around with my long range rucker and 2 Springer Spaniels. These run a trace bit large so going with a 1/2 size smaller may be preferable if you're continuously on side slopes and rocky routes. This is my second pair and I am glad I made that decision. High quality product to brag about!"

Tony S. (5/5)

Best shoes I’ve ever had!

"I’m a high production painter, which means running around job sites full speed, climbing ladders, walking on roofs and scaffolding. These are the only shoes that I have found that give my feet the traction and stability that is needed to meet these high demands. They are light enough to work all day in and sturdy enough as to not rip or tear. In the evening time? That’s right, I’m lifting weights with these bad boys on. Running through the woods? No problem. Great company that produces an awesome shoe! Keep up the good work, you guys exude excellence!"

Jeremiah M. (5/5)

Best Arch Support Ever

"The Mackall is ab awesome shoe. I buy GoRuck shoes because they offer the best arch support ever and are the highest quality shoes I have ever owned. I bought them to replace the discontinued Rough Runners so they took some getting used to but I love them."

Chris E. (5/5)

The design makes a difference

"What a difference in my Ruck w the design of these shoes! 50lb pack for 35minutes and feet felt great! Normally wear a 12 so had to downsize to 11. 5"

Lee D. (5/5)

Great for long hours and long distances

"I´ve been training with my Mackall´s for a short period of time and they are a big improvement from the ballistic trainers for me. I just love them more and rucking feels way better in them. I also just pulled of a 14 hour rock festival with lots of walking and lots of moshing in them. Perfect."
